One journalist said: Betty Roots is a country comet and Americana poet.

She has already shaken off the newcomer stamp she received when she won the newcomer prize in the SjøormCountry competition, which was held by the Country Festival in Seljord in 2022, Betty Roots. The artist also played at this year's festival and is starting to gain a foothold as an up and coming country lady worth keeping an eye and ear out for in the time to come.

The Aurskog singer not only handles the country genre, but also moves into other areas of the Americana landscape, which the latest single Black Betty is solid proof of. The song is a delightful country rocker where Roots' sensual Rita Eriksen/Bonnie Raitt-esque voice really comes into its own. The lyrics are mischievous, fresh and raw.

With a band of top-shelf professional musicians, the sound and performance are in safe hands - the orchestra fits Betty like a glove. With uptempo rock and country tunes, Betty Roots can fill a dance floor like a snap. That doesn't stop her from switching to quiet, acoustic songs in bluegrass garb the next moment. During her concerts, Betty mixes her own songs with well-known covers, because it's important that the audience also hears something they recognize, as not many people can sing along to Roots' own compositions - yet!

The language Betty Roots sings in is both Norwegian and English; Betty has already released an English-language album and is currently working on another album in the same language. This does not prevent the country comet from singing in Norwegian. Betty Roots has made Norwegian versions of Jolene (Oh, Linn), Whisky Lullaby and Cats in the Cradle (a twist on Finn Kalvik's Ride ranke), as well as the LSK song Byen din Lillestrøm. The album is more rocking than the previous one, and Black Betty is the first taste of it.

In the summer of 2023, Betty was nominated Artist of the Week by Radio Airplay and Independent Artist of the Month by Jango.com.

Betty Roots can play what you as an organizer want - either rocking songs with a full band, or a subdued and atmospheric acoustic concert with fewer people on stage - or a mix, where it is possible to get the best of both worlds!
